Oprah Winfrey was spotted flaunting a bit of her midriff at a screening for her upcoming film, “The Color Purple.” The event took place on a Thursday.
Earlier that day, the famed television personality admitted to using a weight-loss drug to help her slim down. This revelation came after months of speculation.
The screening was held at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Oprah graced the purple carpet in a stylish purple patterned suit, showcasing her newly trimmed figure with a broad smile.
She paired her sleek slacks and fitted blazer with a matching vest. This ensemble allowed a small section of her midriff to be visible.
Oprah, now 69, seemed to be in high spirits. She’s been seen in a series of purple outfits recently. These include a sparkling Dolce & Gabbana long-sleeved gown worn on Dec. 4, a simple dress at the film’s premiere last week, and a glittering blazer paired with lavender heels. These were among her many promotional appearances.
She also gave her Instagram followers a peek into her life at home. She shared a video of her making a purple mocktail in her luxurious mansion.
This public appearance was Oprah’s first since she openly admitted that her recent body transformation was partly due to medical assistance. She shared that she initially felt the need to prove that she had the willpower to lose weight without medication. However, her perspective has changed.
She didn’t disclose the specific drug she’s been using. But, she did mention that she uses it as a tool to prevent weight fluctuations. She sees the availability of a medically approved weight management prescription as a relief and a gift, not something to be ashamed of.
Oprah had her weight loss “aha” moment in July. She’s currently just seven pounds away from her goal weight of 160 pounds. She’s done with the shaming, both from others and herself.
She clarified that her use of the weight loss drug came after she had established a healthy diet and regular exercise routine. These efforts were intensified after she underwent knee surgery in 2021.
Oprah’s weight has been a topic of public discussion since the start of her career. She recalled a particularly hurtful headline that referred to her as “Dumpy, Frumpy and Downright Lumpy.” This public shaming was something she accepted and internalized.
She eventually realized that obesity is a disease. No amount of willpower alone can control it. This realization came three months after she criticized those who use medications like Wegovy, Ozempic, and Mounjaro for weight loss, labeling it as “the easy way out.”
